Do you have a specific prayer request for a special child who is ill? Is there a family we need to pray for? Are there other concerns on your heart? Is there a pregnant mother who needs special prayers for herself and the child/children she is carrying? May you sense His peace in knowing that prayer warriors will come together and lay your petitions and burdens at the feet of Jesus.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Romans 12:12

Prayer Requests for a New School Semester ~ January 2012

It won’t be long until students will be returning to school after a long Christmas break. On a college campuses, many students will be traveling great distances to return to school soon. A new semester offers new courses, lots of choices, lots of decisions, and (unfortunately) lots of temptations. So many students balance these classes with homework and working! They have a lot on their plates!

There will also be students with aching hearts for the empty lockers, and empty seats of classmates that are no longer there when they return. Our region has had several tragic accidents involving teen drivers during the Christmas break.

In the midst of breakfast in a rush, signing the paperwork, packing the lunch, writing the notes, sending the money, and getting the kids out the door, please remember the students, parents, and educators who need our prayers.

Hold tightly to the memories and moments with your children, as they grow up so very quickly.

What An Awesome God We Serve! From what I’ve learned, more than 3 million Red Envelopes have been sent or pledged at this time. Yes, there is still time to respond, so please take a moment to click on the link at the right to learn more about this project. As followers of Christ, we must take a stance for those in power to know we do not support the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) — and also do what we can to protect the unborn. The minimal cost of a red envelope and stamp could change the future of our country and the save the unborn. Each red envelope represents a child who died because of abortion… before having a a chance to live.

Alexandra’s House – Kansas City, Missouri

Alexandra’s House is a charitable perinatal-infant hospice house and refuge for abandoned or neglected babies. Our first focus is to provide spiritual, grief and practical support to families pregnant with terminally ill babies and for families whose babies are diagnosed later with a terminal illness. We attend medical visits, develop compassionate and comprehensive birth plans, go to labor and delivery, maintain vigils through the babies’ death, bathe and dress the babies, and participate in funerals and in long-term bereavement care. While “invisible” support could be done by a multidisciplinary team alone, our calling includes a home in which to house live-in staff, who choose a life of poverty so funds go towards the needs of the families, and our ministerial activities. Thus, if a baby survives dismissal from the hospital, the family and child can come to Alexandra’s House for support through the baby’s life and death, and will not experience the feeling of abandonment Alexandra’s family felt.

The vision includes the outgrowth of a religious community who will live and pray together, and whose apostolic activities are the works of Alexandra’s House.

We are the well suited “high touch” complement to “high tech” obstetrical care.

Operation Christmas Child – A Ministry of Samaritan’s Purse

The web site has lots of information about Operation Christmas Child, and the many other ministries supported by Samaritan’s Purse. There are many volunteer opportunities for this ministry — check the web site to see how and where you can serve!

Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ.

St. Andrew Lutheran Church was established as the first Operation Christmas Child Relay Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 2007. Below are some photos of 2007 National Collection Week!
